HISTORY

During the year 2008-09 our department started UG course with 43 students.We started PG course in the year 2010.Now it increases to 220 students and 12 faculty members. Many students passed out from this department pursued higher education and holding various positions in private sectors.M.Phil course was commenced in the year 2017 with 3 students.

We are Running our Department with  12 faculty members.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT

To create and disseminate knowledge and communication skills for the student to determine and reach their academic and career goals by promoting basic and applied knowledge in foreign language and to understand and improve educational practice in diverse society. Department maintains a sharp focus on the pursuit of knowledge, skill and the highest academic standards.

VISION

The Department of English provides academic services, including lectures, Seminars, workshops and academic assistance to its students.  It also provides opportunities for its faculty and students to engage in research.

MISSION

• To strengthen their ability to analyse all form of literary expression.
• To prepare them for careers and higher education.
• To introduce students to the tools of research and broaden their critical sensibilities.
• To equip them for further research and career opportunities.
• To enable students to pursue advance research in English studies.

ACTIVITIES

• National Seminar on “CONTEMPORARY INDIAN LITERATURE IN ENGLISH- NSCILE 2016’ ” conducted by our department during the year 2016-17 on 1st OCT by Dr.V.Peruvalluthi,Prof.,Dept.of English, Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. ACHIEVEMENTS

• On 14.7. 2016, S. Jenitha (III English) had received I prize for speech competition conducted by General Hospital, Cuddalore.
• S. Jenitha (III B.A., English) won I prize in speech Competition conducted by Tamil Department (KCSAM) held on 27.7.16
• S. Jenitha , S. Rubapriya, V. Vinothini, R. Ganaeswari, V.Gayathri won prizes in Speech competition (Breast Feeding Awareness) conducted by Rotary Club, Cuddalore held on 04.8.16
• V. Vinothini (III B.A.,English) won III prize in Poetry competition (Breast Feeding Awareness) conducted by Rotary Club, Cuddalore held on 04.8.16
• R. Saranya (III B.A., English), R. Dhanya (II B.A., English), D. Ramya (I B.A., English) won First prize in Quiz Competition Conducted by KCSAM held on 11.8.16
• S. Jenitha (III English)won II prize in Speech competition (Significance of Wild Life and Conservation) conducted by Forest Department, Cuddalore held on 17.9.16
• V. Niranjana of  II M.A., English(2010-2012) got VII rank in university examination.
• S. Rupapriya of III B.A.,English has won the I prize in speech competition on the topic (People’s participation in wildlife conservation) conducted by forest department held on 21.09.2017.
• U. Jamuna of I B.A., English has won the I prize in quiz competition on the topic(Wild life conservation and forest) conducted by forest department held on 21.09.2017.
