HISTORY

In Department of Mathematics UG course started in the year 2008 with 4 staff members and 6 students, PG course started in the year 2011. Now the department flourishes with nearly 250 students and 7 staff members. Many students passed out from this department pursued higher education and holding various positions in private sectors. Now we are running our Department with 7 staff members.

ACTIVITIES

INDUSTRIAL  VISIT -2019

Birla Planetarium is one of the popular attractions of Chennai that provide an insight in to the cosmic world. Situated at Kotturpuram, Birla Planetarium is an integral part of Periyar Science and Technology Museum.

Birla Planetarium, built in memory of the famous industrialist and visionary Sri B. M. Birla, was opened to public in 1988. The Planetarium has a Science Centre and a Planetarium.

The Planetarium conducts regular audio-visual programs on astronomy. The popular exhibits at the Planetarium are Solar System, Cycle of Stars, Sky and Seasons, Comets, Man on the Moon, etc. Science Park, Traffic Park, Science on Wheels, etc. are the highlights of Science Centre.

For children visiting the Planetarium, there are toy cars which are operated by automatic electronic signal systems. 

           B.M.Birla planetarium  is more useful and provide lots of information about science and mathematics. First they are visit the game show it is more enjoyable and fully based on science.

In seminar hall they provide audio-visual programme about astronomy. The night sky theatre gives new exp   erience about solar system, moon, stars and etc.

The 3D show is more thrilled experience.

MATLAB  is more excited and we saw more details about Mathematics applications on there.

They exhibits some models of satellite  and lots of space things

They exhibits a model of clothing designes by DRDO, it protect against freezing temperature.

There is a lots of place about science like Physics , Biology and Maths. It provide a wonderful experience.

National Mathematics Day

National Mathematics Day was celebrated on behalf of Ramanujam’s birthday on 11.01.19 at 10.30 am in our seminar hall. As the first item of the programme is the prayer song by the students of Mathematics. Our Principal was honoured by Mrs.M.Renugha, the head of the department of Mathematics. Our Principal delivered a speech about the great Mathematician Ramanujan. Our student G. Tamizhselvi of I B.Sc Mathematics had given a speech on Ramunajan’s life history. Math-Junction was conducted for our Department staff members Ms. M.Chellam and Mrs M.Sivasakthi.

The winners announced atlast by Mrs.K.Vaishnavi and Mrs.G.Sivasankari. The last item of the programme is vote of thanks which was given by J. Zuvaira Banu.

PAINTING CLASS

Department of Mathematics arranged painting class to our first year under graduate students. That painting is so pleasant and lively.  Painting is an art of learning Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface. Painting is an important form in the visual arts, bringing in elements such as drawing, gesture, composition, narration, or abstraction .This programme was conducted by Mrs. M. Siva sakthi  and  Mrs. S.Vaishnavi at the time of 3.10 am to 4.00 pm on 21.08.2018.  Painting was drawn by kowasalya and kalpana from III Maths. An audience for the painting class is I B.Sc Maths. EMBROIDERY COMPETITION

We try to encourage our students by knowing one small scale work which is educating in our college is Embroidery. Embroidery is the craft of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn. We decided to bring interest in embroidery for new came I B.Sc  Mathematics  students. It is not only a art  but it is also help us to earn in part time. So it was experimented on 20-7-2018 by the guidance of the  staff  Mrs. M.Renugha and Miss. K.Anandhi  at time of 3.10 pm to 4.00 pm. Art of embroidery was performed  by our second year student  R.Chitra. Then audience for the programme was our new bud I B.Sc Maths students.  She encourage the students by teaching Some of the basic techniques on stitches of the earliest embroidery are chain stitchbuttonhole or blanket stitchrunning stitchsatin stitchcross stitch. Those stitches remain the fundamental techniques of hand embroidery and sharing her learning towards embroidery work.
